Your WordPress powered website is likely to get bombarded with SPAM. This usually comes in the form of comment spam and contact form submissions. Unfortunately, I have not found the perfect solution for combating SPAM indefinitely, but here are a few that are working for me at the moment:
This plugin secures your contact form in the background, so your readers aren’t required to enter a CAPTCHA code or answer any security questions. Includes options to block HTML in comments and manually block IP addresses. Does not work on all themes.
Smart invisible captcha protects your blog from spam comments.
This flexible contact form builder comes with a CAPTCHA capabilities built in. Plus you can customize the form and the mail contents relatively easily. If you are familiar with HTML, this plugin offers lots of design options.
This plugin includes the option to show the CAPTCHA on the forms for comments, registration, lost password, login, or all.
While these plugins might not work for everyone or last forever, hopefully you can find one that will help stop that annoying SPAM and allow you to concentrate on the genuine comments and contact requests that you receive.
