Current prices for a website are all over the map. You can get started with a do-it-yourself type for $10 a month or go with a big firm whose prices start at $10,000 for a website. So, how much should you plan to pay? That really depends on what you are looking to get out of the website.
You could go for the cheap option, but keep in mind that you get what you pay for. I have talked to people who have tried this route. They have either gotten burned by a cheap designer or they have spent countless hours trying to do it themselves with little success.
By choosing an experienced designer, you can expect to get more than just a pretty website. You should hire someone who:
- can get the job done quickly. Designing a website should not take a year to complete. (Most of our website projects take about one month from start to finish.)
- is upfront about what is included and how much it will cost. There should be no hidden fees in a website. If your designer outlines the project in advance, you should both be on the same page about the scope and price before the project begins.
- is knowledgeable about how to drive traffic to your website. “If you build it, they will come,” does not apply to websites. You should reserve some of your marketing budget for promoting your website after it is launched. Your website designer should be able to provide suggestions on how to generate traffic to your new website.
- knows what your target market is looking for. Your website designer should not focus solely on the design. It must be functional.
We work really hard to get to know you and your business before the project even starts. With this knowledge, we will design a website that attracts and retains your ideal customers. We start by outlining the scope of the project, the cost, and the timeframe for completion. Then, we keep you informed and involved throughout the process. Even better – we will be around to support your website for the years to come.
